Twigs Café Restaurant offers fish, along with other cancer-reducing dishes, to enhance the health of its customers. Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, May 16, 2012-- The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School conducted a study that determined people who dined on fish are lessening their chances of developing colorectal cancer, according to an article from The Huffington Post. According to the study, it was concluded that people who consume fish regularly reduce their risk of developing colorectal cancer over their non-fish eating counterparts. With these findings in mind, Twigs Café Restaurant has created a menu that offers a variety of fish dishes. As noted in The Huffington Post, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study with similar conclusions earlier this year. Researchers found that women who eat at least three servings of fish weekly reduce their risk of having colon polyps, which can develop into cancer. Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center conducted the study and determined the omega-3 fatty acids in fish minimize inflammation and colon polyp development. Currently, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death related to cancer in the United States, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Thanks to early detection and better treatment options, not as many people are being diagnosed with colorectal cancer. However, more adults still need to consult their physicians and be screened for colorectal cancer. The Huffington Post cited one in three adults still aren’t undergoing colorectal cancer screenings. Some kinds of fish, such as salmon, can also help reduce heart disease and promote stronger joints. Other Twigs Café entrees include haddock and flounder prepared fresh by professional chefs that strive to create healthy meals for customers. The eatery also serves up other foods proven to reduce cancer-related diseases. Adding more cruciferous vegetables, like cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli, to a diet can reduce the chances of getting colon cancer, according to a study by the American Journal of Epidemiology, as stated in The Huffington Post. People who ate 58 grams per day of cruciferous vegetables were less likely to get colon cancer than others who consume 11 grams per day. Twigs Café Restaurant has many dishes, salads and appetizers loaded with cruciferous vegetables. “We have the best fish and seafood dishes in the area,” said Lori Bogedin, co-owner of Twigs Café Restaurant. “When you come to our restaurant, know you are getting served food that could help lower your chances of getting cancer-related illnesses.
