Annual Memorial Benefit Dinner
"Spirit of the Community"
As a living memorial to the "Spirit of the Community" and to the Victims of 9/11/01, Twigs Restaurant and Cafe launched Twig's annual "Spirit of Community" dinner with all proceeds benefiting a local charity. Currently, over $25,000 dollars has been given back to the community because our guests that evening know that all they have to do is eat and their money will go to the selected charity. Recipients include
2001--Education Fund for the children of the victims of 9/ll in conjunction with the Tunkhannock Borough Police
2002--Triton Hose Company
2003--Habitat for Humanity
2004--Tunkhannock Ambulance Association
2005--The Dietrich Theater
2006--Relay for Life Wyoming County
2007--United Way of Wyoming County
2008--Tunkhannock Police Athletic League
2009--Tunkhannock Tree Association
The "Spirit of the Community" benefit recipient for 2009 was the Tunkhannock Tree Association.
This association cares fo the trees in our community, pruning and overall care of the trees in Tunkhannock. . We appreciate their work!
This group is working with the Riverside park commision to plan and plant trees to fill in on the river bank to keep the great view. During 2009 five trees were planted in the park.
